Horse Riding - Norway |
A popular summer ride in the far north of Norway
An old mail route on the Finnmarks plateau in Lapland. 5 nights in mountain cabins, 7 nights and 8 days in total. The tour is led by a highly experienced and qualified horse riding guide. Our horses are Icelandic, a small but very strong horse and they all give a good ride.
Outline itinerary
Day 1 Arrive at our Lodge. During the evening meal the guide will brief you about the horseback riding section.
Day 2 A visit to the Sámi Museum and the Sami centre in Karasjok. After lunch your personal affects are packed, your saddle properly fitted for your comfort, then you are off. The horse riding starts directly from the lodge with a steep climb and then we are riding over a hilly stretch until we reach Ravnastua lodge.
Day 3 We reach the mountain plateau and tundra, a fascinating landscape where the view is endless and windswept. In the evening we will arrive at Mollisjohk lodge. It is a "jewel" located right in the middle of nowhere on the plateau.
Day 4 The horse ride continues southwards along the Lesjohka river and we pass remote settlements. The Sámi people that live here survive mainly from fishing. We finish the day at Soussjavre Lodge.
Day 5 Today we are going way off the beaten trail and end the day at Baeivasgiedde wilderness cabin, which is situated next to the river in a beautiful pine forest. We spend two nights here.
Day 6 Today we do a day ride with only lunch in our saddle bags, so a better pace is possible. It will be a "discovery ride" into a very interesting area.
Day 7 A long stretch along the beautiful riverside to Myrskog, the end of our ride. A coach will bring you back to the lodge. A warm sauna is waiting for us at the lodge, and we end the tour gathered in the warm atmosphere to have a farewell supper in the "Barta".
Day 8 Continue with your next Muir's Tour or return to the airport.
