We are proud to offer some of the most excellent walking safaris in the Maasai Mara. Feel the pulse of this wilderness area. Meet the Maasai people in harmony with nature, learn from their wisdom and generations of knowledge and understanding of the environment. Experience another dimension of being on safari! Walking the savannah gives you a stronger feeling of "being there". Hunt for elephants and giraffes, with your camera, not with guns. Feel the strong scent of the cocktail ant, spot a Martial eagle, follow the tracks of lions (but not too quickly), embrace the vibrant savannah together with the Maasai.
The walks are carried out in small groups by Maasai guides trained and certified to the Bronze level badge or higher, according to Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association’s standards (KPSGA). There are three different walks that depart daily, plus a specialist birding walk arranged to suit your group. Minimum 18 years of age or 15 years of age when accompanied by parents.
We start each walk with a briefing concerning safety.
Feel the cool air of the morning. Watch the sun rise. Take pleasure in trekking the wild savannah with the Maasai! Learn how to interpret tracks and subtle signs of the wildlife. Return to camp in time for a well deserved breakfast.
We set off for a walk across endless grassy plains and
we jump the odd stream, climb a hill or lava plateau and marvel at the panoramic views
of the surrounding savannah. We seek a shaded spot, perhaps under a Balanite tree for your picnic breakfast.
Allow yourself to relax, chat with the Maasai and just enjoy the moment.
This scenic walk will take you from the hills above Talek,
following the vast grass plains of Angata Ongila, hear the story about Moniku,
have your breakfast/lunch on top of the lava plateau of Naronio hill with its
breathtaking view of the Maasai Mara.
Follow the Seketa ridge towards Ejertit Gorge. We follow the trail through the gorge, exploring the
wilderness and enjoying nature as it was intended.
Cool yourself down at the water pools. Carry on up to the Orkruto plains. Water, picnic
breakfast and lunch included.
The Mara is somewhat of a birdwatcher’s heaven. More than 550 species can be seen in the Mara and up to 200 in the immediate vicinity of the camp. Experience the colourful and fantastic bird-life that surrounds the camp and along the river Talek.
