Muir's Tours - Montana Horse Riding

Montana – Blackfeet Reservation - Horseback Riding

The Rockies are right in front of us and the plains are right behind stretching for miles, with wild flowers everywhere.

Most people prefer to be based at our Blackfeet tipi campsite and each day we set off in a different direction, coming back to great food and to be entertained with songs, stories of life in and around the Rockies.

The stars are very impressive, and wow, those Northern Lights are unbelievable. Spend as many days with as you wish, there is so much to enjoy here.

Other special experiences can include Blackfeet culture, hoop dancers and sometimes ancient storytelling. A very special event is North American Indian Days, usually the 2nd week of July.

Day Rides
The day rides start at about 10:00 am. We shuttle you to the riding area, which is often a trip in itself. We start off with a mini school on how our horses work for you (don't worry - there will be no test!). You are introduced to our horses then off to the saddle up area.

We try to keep most of the rides in small groups so that each group can choose their own pace for the day. Everyone gets to talk to a guide, ask questions, and listen to stories as we ride along.

Multi day Trekking is available on a private basis.  Please ask by email

Price Indication per person:  GBP75 - GBP128 / USD150 - US250 Per Day lunch included.

Camp & Ride
Glacier National Park is only 10 minutes away and Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada only 30 minutes away. We camp in Blackfeet tipis at our temporary remote campsite on the Blackfeet reservation from which we venture out in different directions each day. See the link below for details about our permanent tipi village.

You are in control, you set the pace and take part in the planning for each day.

While we're out riding we don't spend all of our time on the horses. We have breaks to stretch our legs and let the horses rest for a while. This gives you lots of time to take those breath-taking pictures and get your feet on some of the most beautiful land you will ever see!

When our days riding is over, we make our way to the Blackfeet tipi camp for the evening. We spend the evening eating, laughing, and telling stories. Sometimes, songs are sung around the campfire.

Price Indication per person GB£ / US$ - 2005:

£129 - £145 / $185 - $199 per day, including all food and accommodation in tipis. These are temporary camps set up for our horse riding groups only.

More about our permanent tipi camp which is based about 35 miles away, so not suitable for these rides.
