Budget Safari - Camping Arrangements
We believe that sleeping under canvas is the only way to get close to the country and to really experience the National Parks and the deserts of Namibia.
We have a wide age range on our budget camping safaris as we have made life that bit more comfortable for our clients. The only requirement is that you are fit and active as you need to be able to set up and take down a tent, plus do some other work around camp.
Camping is often considered to be the cheap but uncomfortable way to go on holiday. While we agree with that it can be cheap, we will argue strongly that it is not always uncomfortable. Camping does not have to be the uncomfortable way at all. We supply all the necessary camping equipment for your trip. We've done it many times before and we know what we're doing.

Our two person tents are a large, dome-style design that is both roomy and easy to put up. They are well ventilated but waterproof and have fitted groundsheets and mosquito netting to keep out all the creepy crawlies. (Namibia is a desert country with a very healthy, dry climate. We do have our nasty bugs and insects like every other country but, because of the climate here, there are far less creepy crawlies in Namibia than in other parts of Africa).

We use thick foam mattresses with removable sheets that are washed after every trip. We do not use camp beds, roll mats or self inflating mattresses. We find that the inflatable variety tend to go flat, roll mats are very thin and single camp beds are all very well if you are travelling alone, but are not very user friendly for couples on those long, romantic, starlit desert nights.
Campsites vary from place to place - some are basic and others include pools and other facilities

Large comfortable folding chairs with a backrest are supplied rather than stools and there is always a coolbox with ice for keeping your beer and soft drinks cold. We bring along a kitchen table (but not the kitchen sink), we use high quality Melamine plates and cups rather than plastic or paper ones, metal cutlery rather than plastic and we carry powerful gas lights so we can see what we are doing after dark. One thing that we don't supply is sleeping bags. We find that most people have them and prefer to use their own.
We can hire you a sleeping bag for an extra N$ 5 per day.
We have a finely tuned loading system and everything has its place. Under the
instruction of your guide you will, even if you have never camped before,
quickly learn to put up your tent and how to use all the other equipment. After
the second day, making and breaking camp will become quick and easy.
