Booking our budget safari ?  To avoid the possible problems caused by air / road delays we suggest you have at least one night in a Windhoek hotel / guest house / hostel the night before your tour starts and one night immediately after the tour if you plan to leave Namibia by air a.s.a.p.  We use reliable vehicles, but a margin for the unexpected is wise. 

 
Here is a selection of the hotels in Windhoek on our approved list which are near the town centre.
 
Availability
During the cooler months of June - September it is hard to get accommodation in Namibia, so book as early as possible, especially for July and August.
 
How much is the total cost ?
The rates below are estimates as exchange rates have an effect, but it is a good guide.  Work out how many nights you want to stay and multiply the rate then add a "one off" booking fee of GBP5 / USD7. 
 
Safari Court
Quite close to the town centre and Eros Domestic Airport is the 4 star Safari Court Hotel.  The hotel offers 234 Luxury rooms, 14 Deluxe rooms, 9 Executive Suites and boasts one of southern Africa’s most magnificent Presidential Suites.

Hotel Pension Moni
About 4 km from the centre of Windhoek is this great value for money and friendly hotel.  All rooms are different with accommodation for families and singles.  Each room has ensuite facilities, tea / coffee and TV. There is a garden and swimming pool.

Rivendell Guest House
Rivendell Guest House provides homely, comfortable accommodation for a reasonable price. The accommodation is quite centrally situated and is only 1.5 km from the city centre. Rivendell offers both self-catering facilities or bed and breakfast. There is a communal lounge area where guests can relax and watch TV, a dining room and a large patio area with swimming pool. Smoking is only allowed outside the building.

    The Cardboard Box
    Over the years the hostel has metamorphised from a small 12 bed backpackers hostel into its present state. The Cardboard Box is Namibia's oldest and biggest backpackers hostel, they have beds for 45 people and camping space for about 20 people.

    The hostel is Namibian owned and managed, which is a rarity in the backpacking industry in Namibia. Although they have grown considerably from the early days they still strive to give the same warm and personal Namibian service that made them the most popular place to stay in Windhoek.

    We have other hotels and guest houses on our approved list, just ask for more, stating what key facilities you require.
     
    Transfers to and from the international airport can be arranged. The cost varies as the mileage is different to each hotel, but is usually within the range GBP16 - GBP20 / USD30 - USD38 / AUD30 - AUD55, each way for 1 or 2 people.
     
    Sleeping bags can be hired for ND50, which is about GBP7 / USD12 / AUD16 in total each bag for 9 nights / 10 days.  Bring your own if possible, to ensure maximum comfort.
