Muir's Tours - Dog Sledding

Russian Lapland
Dog Sledding Special
This expedition leads you into Russia’s Lapland on the Kola Peninsula and back.

After, some initial training, lead your own team of 6 dogs far off the beaten track to Russia's Lapland - part of the Sami homelands.

Neither age nor gender are barriers to the exciting sport of mushing - all are level factors for handling the dog-sled, but you do need a certain amount of strength and stamina.

Day 7 This morning our trail leads us west through the endless wilderness of the Russian Kola Peninsula. In the late afternoon we arrive at the cosy Russ Lodge, not far away from the shore of lake Imandra. B, L, D.

Day 8 Since this is an expedition style journey we build in an extra day in case of bad weather, to ensure we make it back in time for flight. We chose this spot because it is beautifully situated and the lodge is a very comfortable and cosy place, perfect to relax, take a sauna or enjoy the surroundings. If we do not need this extra day, it gives us a perfect opportunity to take a side trip from here.  B, L, D.

Day 9 We say good-bye to the lodge owners and turn our dogs northwards. Following an old trail through the forest and lake Imandra with it’s 144 island, we return to the small village Rizguba, from where you are transferred back to the hotel in Monchegorsk.  B, L, D.
