Day 1 After breakfast and a pre-tour meeting, we set out on the bikes for a day of riding on the extensive network of single tracks. We'll ride trails like Roots and Roots Extension, Eric's Trail, What's Up Doc' and Dem Bones. With 2 guides, we'll be able to split into a beginner / intermediate group and an advanced group. After a hearty trail side lunch, we'll hop in the van (advanced riders may wish to bike) for a quick ride up to Hartley Pass. From there, it's a thrilling 16-km descent to our cabins on the Bull River. Along the way, we'll stop for a quick hike to the back of the stunning 3 Sisters range, as well as a glimpse at the wildlife that frequent the Sulphur Creek mineral springs, such as mountain goats and bighorn sheep, even marmots!
Day 2 White water day! After an easy cruise to our put-in on the Bull River, we'll hop in the rafts for an exciting full day of rafting in the Bull River Canyon. After enjoying the heart-pounding rapids of the river, we'll head back to the Bull River Lodge for a snack, then hit the bikes for some early evening single track riding before enjoying a delicious dinner and twilight hot tub at our cabins.
Day 3 All single track riding today... we'll enjoy a hearty breakfast of fresh blueberries and pancakes, and then hit the trail leaving right from our door for a day of riding around beautiful Goat Haven mountain. When we return to our cabins, we'll have the option of going for an evening hike, tubing down Galbraith Creek, fly fishing for Cutthroat Trout in the Creek or Bull River, both 100 feet away, playing volleyball on the sand court, or just relaxing and enjoying the sunset.
Day 4 Today we leave the bikes behind and head out on foot to spectacular Cliff Lake. The hike is approximately five hours and takes us past Lemon Lake and 700ft-high Cliff Lake falls, the highest waterfall in the East Kootenay Region. We'll have a picnic lunch at Cliff Lake and enjoy the views at this serene alpine lake. When we're done hiking, we'll hop in the van for a quick ride down a scenic logging road to Bull River Guest Ranch, a horse ranch located deep in the back country, overlooking the spectacular Steeples Range.
Day 5 A morning single track ride will take us to a nearby lake for a refreshing swim. We'll then say goodbye to our hosts Margit and Ken at the Bull River Ranch and head out for some more exploring of the Bull River and Top-of-the-World area. Highlights include Fisher Peak (highest in the Kootenays) and nearby Summer Lake.
