The 7 Day Budget Safari - Northern Malawi
Enjoy the stunning diversity of Malawi’s highlands, the hills, valleys and rocky peaks of Viphya Plateau are ideal for mountain biking or hiking, and you have these options. The unique Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve populated with elephants, zebra, hartebeest, impala and puku.
Experience the breathtaking Nyika Plateau and discover its wide open plains and rolling hills. Descending to the Lake Shore we then visit the bustling harbour of Nkhata Bay. This friendly and welcoming small fishing town offers a colourful contrast to the Malawi you have already seen.
Following the Lake Shore south, we end our safari relaxing on the beautiful tropical white sandy beaches of Chinteche or enjoy an adventure with a variety of activities available along the lakeshore.

Itinerary
Day 1
(Monday) Drive to the Viphya
Plateau and enjoy stunning views of the highlands. Staying at Luwawa Forest
Lodge you can ride the mountain bikes or hike along the forest trails and watch
the spectacular array of birds in this beautiful setting.
Day 2 (Tuesday) Leaving Viphya behind we continue to the Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve. Camping in the thick African Bush we spend an afternoon in the heart of this fascinating game reserve.
Day 3 (Wednesday) Start the day with an early morning animal viewing walk through miombo, mopane and acacia woodland. Then after a late breakfast we drive to Nyika Plateau, Malawi’s oldest and largest game park. After setting up camp at the breathtaking Chelinda Campsite we have the afternoon to explore the fascinating landscape during a optional animal viewing drive, animal viewing walk or night drive.
Day 4 (Thursday) Spend the whole day exploring or soaking up the atmosphere of the beautiful open plains on the Nyika Plateau. Our horse riding for both beginners and experts is very popular as this enables you to get closer to the wildlife, especially the antelopes and zebras.
Day 5 (Friday) After an early morning breakfast, leave the plateau and drive towards the lakeshore stopping for lunch in Mzuzu, the ‘Capital of the North’. Continuing on to Chintheche via Nkhata Bay and stay on the beach of Africa’s third largest lake, Lake Malawi.
Day 6 (Saturday) We spend our last night relaxing in the idyllic setting of the beach side campsite. Spend the day enjoying a variety of activities from horse riding, to a visit to a local village or discover the lake by scuba diving, snorkeling, and sailing or through many of the other water sports available.
Day 7
(Sunday) After a final morning
relaxing on the beach we drive back to Lilongwe, arriving in the late afternoon.

Transport in comfortable and
fully equipped safari vehicles, dedicated crew including an experienced
driver/guide and cook, accommodation in canvass safari doom tents supplied with
