One of the world's most undeveloped regions - a rich variety of experiences awaits you.
By working with local people we ensure more of the money you pay for your holiday stays in the local economy. This will help to ensure that the local people can sustain their livelihood, traditions and culture. All this and a great holiday playground.
The balance of the profits will go to our main core charities.
Long Stay - If you are planning to stay in Mongolia for more than 30 days you must register (and de-register) with the Foreign Citizens Registration Office – the cost of this is negligible, but you may need to allow extra time for the two visits to the registration office. Please note that volunteers on certain projects with Muir's Tours will be spared the need to personally register and deregister, as this will be done for you as part of our services to you, our volunteer.

Ride with nomads in the Baga Khentii Hills & Camel safari in the Gobi
Horse Riding and Trekking with Nomads
On this adventure you will experience nomadic life as we horseback ride through areas used by the earliest of the nomadic horse people.
The Khangai Mountain range in Central Mongolia is drained by some of Mongolia’s mightiest Rivers. The Orkhon is the most famous of them and for tens of thousands of years the Orkhon has provided drinking water, and was therefore a magnet to the nomadic people. Their lifestyle has changed little over thousands of years. The terrain on this ride is quite varied with high mountains providing a backdrop much of the time.
Suitable for all levels of rider, but to get the most out of the experience it is best to be conditioned to regular riding when you arrive in Mongolia. The route includes a number of areas that are used for grazing, so it is like a lawn and an excellent pace can be achieved on theses sections, for those who choose to gallop. There is a support vehicle with the group all the time, so you can choose to ride in it if you need to be out of the saddle for some of the time.
The Mongolian horses are small but very sturdy and great fun to ride.

13 days - Horse & Camel Riding + Kazakh / Mongol Culture
soft adventure with wide appeal
The far west of Mongolia is a remote and unique geographical area with a population of nomadic people equally as interesting and diverse as the land they inhabit. The landscape includes high glacial mountain peaks, large lake basins, steppe grassland and desert sand dunes. One of the main minority groups in this area is the Kazakh minority who are as well largest in Mongolia, inhabiting the province of Bayan Olgii since the mid-1800s. Still maintaining their traditional customs and traditions, they live in large felt gers and hunt with huge, Golden eagles in the winter months to supply themselves with fur of the prey.
We will take you by some of the most spectacular peaks of the Altai Mountains and later into the flat arid plains of the Gobi desert. We will set up tented camps by vast, clear blue lakes and visit many of the minority groups in the area and learn about their ancient customs and culture. You will travel on horseback, camel and by jeep allowing a wide experience of this land in all its brilliant diversity.
15 days - Horse Riding in the Ancestral Home of Genghis Khan
The Khentii Hills
There are just two departure each year for this particular itinerary. The early summer ride in particular may involve some areas of bog. The route includes some tough sections of mountainous terrain, so this particular ride is suited best to experienced riders. The support vehicle is not able to be with the group at all times due to the remote and tough terrain. The later departure will suit a wider range of riders, but those with little experience will have trouble.
